Haryana Solar Policy and it’s Solar Highlights

The above solar policy of Haryana is dated March 14m 2016 and can be found here. Haryana is a state in the Northern part of India with several famous cities, which are centres of commercial and industrial importance such as Chandigarh, Faridabad and Gurgaon being a part of the state. Chandigarh is the capital city of Haryana. The state is well known for its agricultural and manufacturing industries that has seen the state gain reputation for being one of the most economically developed states in the country. A substantial part of Haryana is included in National Capital Region, commonly called a NCR. Haryana is also one of the fastest growing states in terms of solar deployment in the North of India with already installed and commissioned capacity of 73.27MW. Out of this, 57.88MW was commissioned in FY 2016/17. Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency(HREDA) is undertaking special projects to push the adoption of solar power such as a 45KW plant for Haryana Raj Bhawan and 4.5 KW plant for 10 district Collectorates. Beyond these, there are several street lighting, water pumping and home lighting solutions powered by Solar Photovoltaic that are being run by the state. There are also Solar Water Heating schemes as well as Solar Cooker schemes that have been put in place. Haryana Government has also been offering up to 90% subsidy to promote solar water pumps to the farmers in a attempt to set up 3,050 such pumps. Haryana has a great potential for solar energy with at least 330 sunny days and therefore has been set a target of 4200 MW of solar power by 2022. Out of this, 1600 MW has been marked to be achieved from rooftop solar plants alone. There have been incentive lead schemes that have been started for residential customers hoping to encourage them to go solar.
